Global Production

Each shirt produced by StartAfrica is made 100% in Africa. Each piece of clothing, shirt or accessory reflects the will of a small country, Eritrea to emerge in the international market thanks to the craftsmanship of its people and the technology that is becoming more and more the process of industrialization.
The result achieved over the years by StartAfrica is quality shirts that are accurate and comfortable to wear and are requested by customers all over the world, starting from big names in Italian fashion.

Eritrean Staff

Mainly female employees

Za.Er. is a project launched in 2004 as a business model for sustainable economy. It offers qualified jobs to more than 500 people, eighty percent (80%) women – in three production sectors - shirt production, clothing, household linen and spinning. The employees are paid higher salaries than the national standard, offered bonuses and safe working conditions.

Following training courses and transmission of know-how to the local staff, Za.Er. is today managed exclusively by local staff. The people in charge of the various units are Eritreans, who have worked in Za.Er. for several years, benefitting from the opportunities in personal gain and professional growth offered by the company. This project, created over the years has developed a new model of sustainable economy.

Company kindergarten

Education is a big opportunity for small children

The Za.Er. factory kindergarten, open to company employees is equipped to accommodate up to 40 children (there is already a plan under way to accommodate 90 children).
The company offers this service to help employees manage their families, especially to the women who spend most of the day at work.
The kindergarten is a colourful, child-friendly environment with plenty of games.

With the aim of ensuring quality education for the children, Za.Er. takes responsibility until the highest level of education, by sending the students to the Italian School of Asmara.
